Dad’s Family Support Worker

Our child Contact Centres offer safe and friendly neutral venues where  children of separated families can spend time with separated parents and sometimes other family members

For Fathers who use our contact centres  in Sunderland, South Shields and Durham it can be a bewildering and confusing time.

Some Dad’s can feel very isolated and lost.  For a lot of Dad’s, having to come to a contact centre isn’t what they thought Fatherhood would be about.

Dad’s are Role models

At first it can be a strange place, for both father and child., the experience of being separated from their children can cause depression, loss of confidence, low  self esteem and many other issues as a result of the breakdown in a relationship.

Our Dad’s Worker

Impact Family Services recognised a need to provide support services for Dad’s and was successful in gaining funding from Sherburn Hospital in 2009. This funding will provide services to Dad’s of children who are accessing our Child Contact Centres.

The role of  Dad’s Worker

The aim is to support Dad’s during the transitional period following separation and/or divorce.

The support is based around Dad’s own individual issues and needs and what is best for the child(ren).

The Dad’s support worker will focus on enabling Dad’s to feel better about themselves and their children and  build up their belief in always being Dad.
